River Tour

We want our visitors to really experience this unique river and marvel at Medieval Trim, the home of more Medieval buildings than any other town in Ireland, from the largest Norman castle in Europe to the oldest unaltered bridge in Ireland. The town is built around these huge castles and monasteries and they were built on both banks of the River Boyne at the Fjord which gave great access to the land for the traders and pilgrims that were traveling up river from all over Europe and as far away as Asia to sell their wares and to teach their way of life. We want to interact with them and show them the river, the landscape of the river, we want them to ‘float through time’, we want them to experience our ancestors sailing across Europe and Asia and pushing their way up the Boyne to settle in the towns we now call home.

We want them to experience battles that changed history, show them the abbeys and castles that were constructed for no other reason than the river, they won’t be bothered by dates, but rather intrigued by the people that lived there, the ‘rock stars’ of the medieval days!

High Ropes/Archery

Archery – Here at Boyne Valley Activities we know that Archery has long been recognised as a good physical exercise and an excellent mental control activity. In recent years, Archery has become increasingly popular as a group or individual sport suitable for all ages.

Test your nerve on this 10 meter tree canopy challenge course set deep in woodlands high up in the trees.

Kayaking

There is something truly exhilarating about taking to the water in a Kayak that some would argue is possibly the most relaxing and breathtaking way to see this country.

The sense of freedom and connection to nature must be experienced to be believed, the fresh air and the chance to meander down through the Boyne Valley  and paddle your kayak through an abundance of flora and fauna, past Medieval Castles.

Boyne Valley Activities launched their White Water Rafting last year from their Slane base and it’s proving to be a rip roaring success!

One of the first companies to introduce rafting to the country and the first to run commercial rafting on The River Boyne, this trip is a must for anyone interested in having great craic and a great experience on what is a fantastic stretch of water.

From its base in Trim, Boyne Valley Activities have a fantastic River Trail option. With 35 kilometers of Waterways to explore, this is a super stretch of water to navigate. It is all Grade 2 water which is a gentle flow most of the way down with  some small rapids to test your skills  as you pass through them.

Being in the heart of the Boyne Valley, you will pass some amazing  Abbeys and Castles along the route and the scenery is second to none.
