Visitors to Trim Castle increase from 86,972 to 101,127

Trim Tourism Network welcomes the announcement from the OPW and  Kevin “Boxer” Moran, Minister of State at the OPW of the latest release of statistics showing a 14,155 increase in visitor numbers to Trim Castle in the space of one year.  “These sites are not only iconic attractions which entice international visitors but also contribute significantly to the quality of life of our own citizens,” said Mr Moran following the publication of the figures. “I compliment the staff of the OPW who work tirelessly to ensure that all visitors to our sites are welcomed with warmth and professionalism.”

In 2015 Trim Castle had a record number of visitors of 86,972  but 2016 showed a exponential increase to 101,127 visitors.  Other local increases show visitor numbers from the Hill of Tara up to 186,257 which is an increase of 26,571.   These are exceptional numbers and this growth is down to the fantastic work being done both here and internationally by Failte Ireland , Ireland’s Ancient East, Boyne Valley Tourism and Trim Tourism Network initiatives.  We here at Trim Tourism Network are privileged to work hard in our community to reap the huge benefits these increases have for our economy.

Trim Tourism Network is a registered non-profit organisation made up of volunteers (with a core group that meets regularly) from the business community with the aim of combining the skill set of local businesses and individuals to help turn Trim into a major tourism hub and work alongside the Boyne Valley & Ireland’s Ancient East campaigns.
