Display of photographs relating to the event and period are on display in the windows of the Credit Union, Emmet Street. This building was the site of the home of the O’Higgins brothers who took part in the taking of the Barracks. With thanks to Drogheda Credit Union, Trim Branch.

FILM “TRIM 1920”
A 6 minute film of the taking of Trim Barracks and the burning of Trim. Trim Visitor Centre. Runs for two weeks only. Maximum 4 people per showing due to Covid. Please wear a mask. With thanks to Trim Visitor Centre and Meath County Council. Trim Town Hall was burned by the Black and Tans.

THURSDAY, 24TH SEPTEMBER 2020
Trim Library. Launch of the ‘Trim, September 1920’ Publication by Meath County Council. This will be a virtual event with the launch being streamed live on You Tube. This volume edited by local studies librarian, Tom French has been published on the centenary of the tumultuous events which occurred in the town of Trim a century ago, and forms a vital part of County Meath’s Decade of Centenaries commemorations. The book will be available for sale after the launch from Trim Library and Antonia’s Bookshop in Trim. Price €10.

11.00 Unveiling of new inscription to Seamus and Sean O’Higgins and Mick Hynes; Newtown Graveyard. Inscription kindly sponsored by Heffernan’s Funeral Directors, Trim.

2.00 pm and 4.30 p.m. Walking Tour of Trim 1920 – Remembering the Capture of Trim Barracks and the Burning of Trim. Wear mask and keep social distance.

3.30pm Weapons of the Period Display. Participants will be asked to wear masks and socially distance.
